Marie Russell PCD(DONA)

Many congratulations on the upcoming birth of your baby!

I’m Marie Russell and I am a DONA certified postpartum doula and the mother of two wonderful grown children and two delightful grand-daughters, ages 5 and 3!!  I decided to become a doula after helping my daughter after the birth of her first child - a most rewarding and wonderful experience for me! Being with my daughter at such a special time in her life truly opened my eyes to the difference great support can make for new parents.

Since completing my doula training in 2011 and my certification in 2013, I have worked with over 20 families both here in Connecticut and in California, where I did my training and began my doula career. I tailor each assignment to meet that particular family’s needs – no two are alike!! I have assisted clients with a multitude of mother and infant care issues including recovery from birth, breast & bottle feeding, developing healthy sleep habits, and establishing routines. I have also worked with the MIECHV program, a federally sponsored parenting support program, providing doula services and teaching newborn care classes. I regularly attend educational programs and read extensively in order to continue to hone my postpartum doula skills.  When I’m not doula-ing, I enjoy going to the movies with my husband, Paul, visiting with family and friends, and of course Face-timing with my two grand-daughters in California!

Please contact me to set up a personal interview to see if I am the doula who might meet your family’s needs. I wish you the best of luck on your continuing journey into parenthood!

Marie Russell was with us after the birth of my 2nd child. She was with us for about 3-3.5 weeks, 2 times a week. Marie's knowledge and experience with newborns (as well as toddlers) was priceless.  There wasn't anything that Marie wouldn't do-- she helped with infant/toddler care, laundry, meals, came on playdates, gave me the opportunity to have 1:1 time with both children and emotionally supported me. Marie was extremely knowledgeable about breastfeeding and helped me navigate/learn about reflux (which my infant had).  I'm not sure I could have survived those first few months without her. I would HIGHLY recommend Marie to anyone.
